Gaia's Garden!

The GAIA GARDEN GROUP planted Fall bulbs in our new garden and got the grounds ready for Winter. Thinking ahead to Spring and starting an indoor garden are current projects.
Thanks to the Jeffers Foundation school garden grant we were awarded, the Gaia Garden Group met weekly over the Summer of 2014 in the Kingfield Community Garden. In 2015 we will be gardening as part of our new Summer Camp Program!

The 2nd Annual
Gaia Family Carnival/Open House  on July 25, 2014 was wonderful fun and featured Silly Miss Tilly, a Gaia DS Community Talent Show, art, food, games, entertainment, and more!

A GREAT time was had by all on our
School Camping Trip at Camp Sacajawea (June 9, 10, 11 2014)! We went to the beach, did some kayaking, played lots of games, built fires, told stories, made art, cooked together, celebrated a birthday and our first year as Gaia DS.

Gaia Democratic School proudly presents:

"Spirit of the World"

An original musical mythical production

Showing at Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN
May 22-24, 2014

Two special children meet The Shadow in a modern day alley and a spectacular adventure through Babylon ensues. A mischievous band of tricksters lead the youth on a quest to recover lost symbols and save the Tree of Life. On the journey, we meet power hungry King Nimrod, mystical Queen Semaramis, their loyal Golem, a mysterious Wind Goddess, a confused beast and other strange creatures who are all part of the mythical, magical, dangerous fun.

Written and conceived by Zion BraveHeart, Performed by Gaia DS students,
Coordinated by Starri Hedges.

Our Indiegogo campaign to raise money for the play was a great success!
